The 25th annual San Ramon Valley Sing-Along performance of Handel's Messiah featuring the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra will be held Sunday, December 19, at the San Ramon Presbyterian Church. The concert begins at 7 p.m. The church is located at 12943 Alcosta Blvd, San Ramon, next to the San Ramon Post Office. The event is under the direction of Dr. Tim Smith, Music Director.
"We call it a Sing-Along because we provide the orchestra and soloists," says Dean Christman, choral director, "but the audience provides the voices for the chorus." Singers of every level participate, according to Christman. "Most sing, some hum, many come just to listen."
Featured soloists for the concert are Elizabeth Hunter, soprano; Christine Nowilski, alto; Dean Christman, tenor; and Theodore Weis, bass. Tickets are available at the door or online at www.srvMessiah.info. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children.
Sponsors of the event and a series of choral workshops which preceded it are the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra, the San Ramon Valley Music Foundation, San Ramon Valley Arts Foundation, the City of San Ramon and the Pacific Masterworks Chorus.
